Walking for Peace
Donations accepted – All are Welcome!
What do Aborigines’ walkabouts, Zen walking meditation, and anti-nuclear activists’ pilgrimages have in common? For millennia, humans have walked for inner and outer peace. This workshop, offered as part of the Month of Peace, will focus on peace walking and peace pilgrimage. We’ll share conversation and poetry about walking with the intention of creating, manifesting, or channeling peace to the world. Workshop facilitator and sometime peace pilgrim Karina Lutz will perform her poem “Encircling Earth.”
Performance, discussion, and walking meditation may be indoors; the longer walk will be outdoors, so please dress according to the weather and in layers. Wear comfortable walking shoes or boots.
The Month of Peace, September, will include events around Rhode Island, starting with a peace walk at WaterFire Sept. 1. Details will be at http://thepeaceflagproject.org/.
Preregistration not required but encouraged.
