What is Amrit Yoga & who are your Hosts?
Every day you will have the opportunity to practice the Integrative Amrit Methods™ including Yoga Postures, Yoga Nidra (meditation) & Pranayam (breathing techniques). Amrit Yoga is unique in it’s approach due to it’s deep connection to the practices of ancient yoga while maintaining modern day accessibility. This gives the practitioner the ability to immediately receive the benefits of the practice without previous experience. Your hosts Abhay (Scott Arena) and Indu (Heather Eilering) have spent years studying, practicing and teaching Amrit Yoga and Yoga Nidra. They trained at the Amrit Yoga Institute and have had the pleasure of training new Amrit Yoga Teachers. Indu is the owner of Santosha Yoga Studio and is a certified Therapeutic Thai Yoga practitioner. Abhay is trained in Therapeutic Yoga and works for the Amrit Yoga Institute.
Getting to Italy:
For airport transportation you will fly in and out of Florence (FLR) airport. There is one scheduled pickup on October 4th at 4pm for travel into the Tuscan countryside. There is one scheduled drop off to the airport from your Florence accommodations at 12pm on October 11th. You may feel free to arrive early or stay later to explore Italy on your own, however, all accommodations and transportation will be your responsibility.
What to Bring: Passport, comfortable clothing for yoga, activity clothing, reusable water bottle, sunglasses, shoes for walking, camera, toiletries, bathing suit, Italian AC adapter, yoga mat, journal. Save room in luggage for bringing home goodies!
Making Calls: You will have to contact your cell phone provider for out of country rates. A few alternative suggestions for you. If you have a smartphone there are many apps in which you can call and text friends who also have the same app such as Skype, Google Voice and Tango. You can also purchase a monthly plan through Line2 for $10. This is what we will be using to stay in contact.
Trip Insurance: We recommend purchasing trip insurance in case life spontaneously throws you a curve ball at the last minute! Insurance can cover travel and health to cover additional costs for: airline tickets, loss of luggage, trip delay, medical issues, etc. Here is one site that may be helpful.
Exchanging dollars for the Euro: Italy uses the Euro for currency. Most banks can exchange your dollars for Euros. We recommend doing the exchange ahead of time because the exchange rate at airports usually includes fees and is higher. Here is a link to the current exchange rate.
Using your Credit Card: To avoid a freeze on your account make sure to call your CC company ahead of time to let them know you will be traveling abroad and the dates. Ask if your bank has a partner in Italy to avoid abroad fees.
During our time of travel the typical weather forecast is in the 70’s during the day and 50’s at night. For current weather conditions in Florence click here.
